Lincoln Teams with Singer Monica to “Reach Higher”
Sultry siren Monica floated down the Red Carpet in Atlanta, sashaying with the signature sway of a runway model at the Lincoln “Reach Higher” tour event. The copper-coated cutie pulsated with prime star power at the Compound Nightclub – Monica was on hand to belt out a couple of cuts from her latest CD, The Making of Me, but also to profess her long-standing love affair with Lincoln vehicles. Positioned behind the R&B diva were three glistening 2007 Lincoln vehicles that shimmered under the lights like expensive holiday ornaments: the MKX luxury crossover; the MKZ sedan; and the redesigned Lincoln Navigator, which has earned rock-star status from celebrities and auto aficionados alike.
“We want to make a big splash when we are releasing our new Lincoln products,” said Dan Guzman, Lincoln”s brand marketing manager. “It”s important to me that when we do this event, we give that exclusivity to the African American market. We’re doing pretty well, we still have a good reputation, a lot of loyalty in that market, and we”re gong to continue to accentuate that and grow it.”
Before the invitation-only crowd could delve into the exotic cuisine, Lincoln executives served up a five-star treat to car connoisseurs - a test drive of the Navigator. During the test drive, the Navigator engine sounded almost as melodious as Monica”s angelic voice, harmoniously pumping out 300-horsepower that produced a barely discernable yet seductive hum that had to be music to riders” ears. According to Guzman, Lincoln has designs on amplifying its already increasingly visible brand awareness. “We see our vehicle integrated into film, music, videos, and we”re just happy to have again [talking about the African American market] very influential members of the entertainment industry take a liking to the distinctive styling of our products.”
The Reach Higher series also swung through Dallas and Miami. Professional athlete appearances included NBA star Jerry Stackhouse, Gary Payton, former Atlanta Hawk point guard Jason Terry and guard Devin Harris.
