GM's 5th Annual "ten” Fashion Show: Stars, Cars & more Stars
See it on ARtv
The carpet was red, the cars were wet and the runway was hot. It's a secret code that is silently shared among A-listers throughout the streets of Hollywood. If the code was measured by points, then GM definitely has more game than Kobe when it comes to tastemaker events. It's a testament which conveys the untouchable level of strength GM has when commingling the lifestyle with the auto game!
At this year's ten fashion show during Oscar week, the code was delicately rolled from the lips of some of the industry's hottest stars from scandalous housewife Eva Longoria to three-time Grammy winner John Legend to Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush. They all spoke the magic ten! And that's exactly what GM created in Hollywood the eve of February 28th in Hollywood -- a perfect 10!
Like Atlanta's rap master T.I., we rolled around LA in a Silver Corvette with "the top chopped off.” Not exactly the road running Z06, but we were perfectly fine with the elements. Inside the set at 1540 N. Vine, GM showed off their entire squad, which was led by the power rushing •07 Cadillac Escalade and the breath inhibiting Chevrolet Camaro concept! If GM brings the Camaro to life as is, then it's a wrap. But if they water it down, buyers will simply turn to European and Japanese favorites. Yet, after quizzing design chief Ed Welburn on its fate, we had some key clues of what to expect. Said Welburn, "I'm a big fan of the early Camaro. I told my designers to use the past for inspiration but in a contemporary way.” So we asked Ed if it will make it to production in its current concept form. "I'll put it this way, the crowd that has been around this car at every auto show has been huge. So what can I say?!,” he replied.
To flow with top fashion designs by Gucci, Versace, Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Christian Dior, Donna Karan, Dolce & Gabbana and a few more, GM let loose the Cadillac STS, Pontiac Solstice GXP, Saturn Sky, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Saab 9-5 Aero, HUMMER H3, Chevrolet HHR and the classic Chevrolet Bel Air. And though the rest of the GM lineup walked the walk, they didn't have enough buzz to get the crowd to talk the talk. Those included the Saturn VUE Green Line hybrid, Pontiac GTO, Buick Lucerne, Chevrolet Aveo and Pontiac G6.
Oh well. However, the star count was so crazy even Haley's Comet had to stop through. Celebs, athletes and entertainers included Jamie Foxx, Tyrese Gibson, Derek Luke, Lindsay Lohan, Jeremy Piven, Anna Kournikova, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, Carmen Electra, Brooke Burke, Joy Bryant, Nick Lachey, Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Matthew Perry, Alyssa Milano, Daisy Fuentes, Eric Dickerson, Marcus Allen, Farnsworth Bentley, David Spade, and Kelly Hu, just to name a few.
So as you see it wasn't hard to find your style -- www.findyourstyle.com -- on the Red Sand of GM's premiere fashion party. "The ten event is like none other," said Mike Jackson, general manager of GM's Western Region. "This is our annual opportunity to raise money for charity by mixing GM's hot products with top designer fashions and Hollywood's coolest celebrities. It's become one of LA's must-attend events of the year, which is something we are really proud of."
