Think Smart & Drive Safe: Bridgestone Introduces Their Safety Scholars

Brian Armstead, 02.07.08

During the 2008 Chicago Auto Show Bridgestone was putting teen driving safety at the forefront of their philanthropic efforts. SafetyScholars.com is the Bridgestone hosted website that features student made videos on seatbelt safety. At an evening press conference we were amazed at the video production skills and the pertinent safety messages in the winning segments. Our favorite was the piece submitted by Tyler Gullingsrud, who used Lego blocks to show the tragic consequences of being in a crash without a seatbelt. Tyler took over 1,000 photos, with each painstakingly set to show the next scene, to bring his Lego video to life. It was an amazing, effective video.

Congratulations to the winners and to Bridgestone, who also showed their latest line of performance and winter driving tires at a display on the floor of the Chicago Auto Show, for a job well done. Go to www.safetyscholars.com for details on the 2008 video contest. Winners receive $5,000 towards their college educations. Check out www.bridgestone-firestone.com for their hot offerings for 2008.
