Bose QuietComfort 3 Headphones: The Quiet Storm!
The five hour flight from Baltimore to L.A. was much more appeasing with Bose's latest technological breakthrough in headphones. Their QuietComfort 3 (QC3) Acoustic Noise Canceling Headphones instantly shut out the sounds of travel and optimize the sound of your favorite audio medium.
Known for packing lots of power into small packages, Bose has done just that with the QC3. Not only are they smaller, louder, and more sophisticated than the QC2 they replace, but the QC3's fit on the ear and not over the ear like their replacements. Moreover, the QC3's newer rechargeable battery is claimed to last 20 hours. After two round trip flights from the East to the West Coast and a couple of train rides from D.C. to New York, my battery still had a charge!
Acoustic Noise Canceling uses sophisticated microphones built into the earcups which dynamically monitor sounds. The difference between the sound you desire and the sound you need muted is electronically processed, which in turn creates a correction signal that get rids of the unwanted sound. The result in real life is an incredible reduction in background noise, particularly the droning engine noise onboard a flight.
Accessories include a smaller, portable carrying case which stores the adjustable headphones, dual plug adapter, ¼" stereo plug adapter, 5' extension cord, and a single, detachable audio cord which allows the use of the phones for noise canceling only if you're not in the mood for music or a movie. And I still had room inside the case to store my Creative Zen MP3 player.
The Bose QuietComfort 3 Acoustic Noise Canceling Headphones retail for $349.00.
