Ducati SportClassics: A Touch of Milan in the Nation's Capital
Red carpet, skies filled with searchlights, an urban-chic upscale venue, the latest fashion apparel, VIPs and the CEO of a trend setting company, and let's not forget the sexy Italian supermodels. If this sounds like the making of a world premiere launch with mass appeal, you're right. It's Ducati's North American SportClassics model launch in none other than the Nation's Capital, presented by Northern Virginia's Coleman PowerSports.
Winter temperatures in Washington D.C. don't make for the best riding conditions. But when Ducati decides to do a launch in your home town with legendary Imola 200 winner Paul Smart making a rare appearance, die-hard Duc (as Ducatis' are affectionately known) riders found the courage to brave sub 40 degree temperatures.
Being from the D.C. area, it was an extraordinary sight to cruise down 14th Street to the "new” U street corridor to witness a huge bright red Ducati rig with more than 50 Ducs and a couple Italian exotic super cars lining the entrance of the upscale furniture and fashion boutique Muleh, which was transformed into the perfect atmosphere for a launch with vintage bikes, runway models rocking the latest Ducati gear, and plasma TV's featuring interviews with Ducati enthusiasts, highlighting Ducati's dominating track performances, and showcasing Ducs in movies such as The Matrix Reloaded and Cat Woman.
Ducati has long set the standard in the motorcycle industry for creating pure works of art combined with amazing performance, handling, and engineering. There may be other bikes out there that can outperform a comparable Ducati in some categories, but none possesses the mystique and allure that a Ducati commands. By the looks of it, the SportClassics line with the limited edition PaulSmart1000LE is sure to continue this well deserved reputation.
